China now has the world's fastest-growing automotive market and is expected to account for 35 per cent of worldwide automotive growth by 2020. To meet the rise in demand for Advanced High Strength Steels, ArcelorMittal recently inaugurated a greenfield state-of-the-art steel facility in China through a joint venture with Valin Steel.

Despite some language challenges and cultural differences, the team pulled together and production was officially kicked off as expected on 15 June 2014," comments VAMA's Chief Technology Officer Jurgen Cobbaut, who is proud of what has been achieved: "We have built world-class facilities with the latest technical capabilities, able to provide the best solutions for global auto customers in producing advanced high strength steels, including Usibor®, which is the iPhone 6 of automotive steel.”
