IABC 2015 under the sign of innovative steel solutions

Not less than 3 ArcelorMittal delegates will give a speech at the International Automotive Body Congress (IABC) taking place in Offenbach am Main (DE) from 8 to 10 June 2015:

  • Philippe Baudon, CEO ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks Europe and Asia, will give a keynote speech on how laser welded blanks and press hardening technologies combined together can help car manufacturers achieve their goals in terms of weight saving
  • Dan Hasenpouth, Research Engineer, will present the failure modelling of Usibor® 1500, our top-selling advanced high strength steel for hot stamping
  • Sadok Gaied, Research Engineer, will demonstrate the possibility of hot stamped Laser Welded Blanks solutions to tune shapes, grades and thicknesses at the same time to optimizing both crash performances and mass

A glimpse of Dan's presentation: Crash ductility and numerical modelling of Usibor® 1500 fracture behavior

Due to more stringent CO2 emission regulations, car manufacturers are looking for solutions to design lighter cars without compromising neither safety nor affordability. Thanks to its exceptional mechanical properties, our hot-stamped Usibor® 1500 is a key product for saving weight on the body-in-white (BIW). But in order to be used in BIW design at its full lightweight potential, Usibor® 1500 crash ductility must be understood, characterized and modeled properly. An adequate calibration of the failure parameters is the key for an accurate failure prediction.
