Lighter, stiffer, the Volkswagen Passat was awarded "Car of the Year 2015"
After the Polo in 2010 and the Golf in 2013, Volkswagen's Passat was awarded "Car of the Year 2015" at the Geneva Motor Show by a jury of 58 European journalists from 22 European countries. The Passat won with a huge margin of votes over the other six shortlisted cars. This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional work of the Volkswagen teams.
"We are extremely proud of this accolade," commented Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn. "In the new Passat we have again succeeded in developing a car that sets the standards for its class in terms of technology and quality. This honour is a tremendous confirmation for the work of our engineers, designers and the entire team. The new Passat shows that the Volkswagen brand has the right answers to the challenges of our time."
The judge’s noted the car’s advanced technology, handsome design, wide variety of configurations and excellent road behaviour. They praised the new Passat for being more lightweight than the outgoing model while at the same time improving in terms of body stiffness.
As one of Volkswagen's steel suppliers, ArcelorMittal would like to offer our congratulations to Volkswagen and its team on this impressive achievement.
