During this presentation, Luciano and Joël will outline how improvements in the crash performance of vehicles have been made possible thanks to the use of advanced materials for the body-in-white (BIW), such as advanced high strength steels (AHSS) and hot forming technology.
The presentation will focus on ArcelorMittal’s latest S-in motion® study into light weight steel solutions for electric vehicles. It will also examine how a combination of new steel grades (for cold and hot stamping), laser welded blank (LWB) solutions, and the safest welding process (Ablation 2.0) can help OEMs meet the new EuroNCAP side-crash protocol to be introduced in 2020. Through ArcelorMittal’s S-in motion® studies, these solutions have been successfully applied to different car segments and powertrain technologies.
The presentation will take place at 14.20 on Wednesday 18 September. All delegates to Insight @ Volkswagen are welcome to attend.
Luciano Marinoni, product manager of ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks
Joël Wilsius, Technical Support Project Leader, ArcelorMittal Global Research and Development
