ArcelorMittal at Insight @ Volkswagen

Luciano Marinoni, product development manager for ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks and Joël Wilsius, Technical Support Project Leader for ArcelorMittal Global Research and Development will speak at the next edition of Insight Edition. The conference will be held at Volkswagen’s manufacturing plant in Poznan (Poland) on 17 and 18 September 2019.

During this presentation, Luciano and Joël will outline how improvements in the crash performance of vehicles have been made possible thanks to the use of advanced materials for the body-in-white (BIW), such as advanced high strength steels (AHSS) and hot forming technology.

The presentation will focus on ArcelorMittal’s latest S-in motion® study into light weight steel solutions for electric vehicles. It will also examine how a combination of new steel grades (for cold and hot stamping), laser welded blank (LWB) solutions, and the safest welding process (Ablation 2.0) can help OEMs meet the new EuroNCAP side-crash protocol to be introduced in 2020. Through ArcelorMittal’s S-in motion® studies, these solutions have been successfully applied to different car segments and powertrain technologies.

The presentation will take place at 14.20 on Wednesday 18 September. All delegates to Insight @ Volkswagen are welcome to attend.
