Co-engineering with ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks
ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks is available to help carmakers at any stage of the vehicle development lifecycle. Our support can begin at the earliest stage of new model development with advanced engineering to identify innovative steel solutions. Our involvement at this early stage can lead to the biggest weight reductions while increasing safety and vehicle performance.
Our co-engineering support can begin in the earliest stages of vehicle design and continue through to serial production
ArcelorMittal’s support can continue right through to serial production and includes:
- Body-in-white review to identify potential improvements based on the OEM’s priorities (cost, mass, or performance for example)
- Formability studies using the latest design tools
- Comparison analysis to compare the performance of a reference part with an LWB solution. Factors such as deformation, stress, and fatigue resistance can be assessed.
- Technical support from Resident Engineers and Customer Technical Support (CTS) for cost assessments, behavior analysis, stamping feasibility, prototyping, and material testing
Integrated supply chain
As part of the ArcelorMittal group, Tailored Blanks can ensure the full steel supply chain from coil supply through to just-in-time delivery of the finished LWBs to the customer’s facilities. Our integrated supply chain ensures just-in-time delivery of LWBs.
