Laser cutting is a very flexible way to manufacture shaped blanks which can be used immediately or stamped. ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks operates state-of-the-art laser cutting lines which can produce flexible shapes with very precise tolerances.
For parts where surface quality is critical (such as bodysides and hoods) ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks’ laser cutting lines have been optimized to minimize handling and preserve the coil’s surface. For this reason, the laser cutting lines are regularly used to supply blanks for both luxury and mass market carmakers.
ArcelorMittal’s Tailored Blanks division can produce laser cut blanks in thicknesses ranging from 0.5 to 4.0 mm for all steel grades in ArcelorMittal’s automotive portfolio. Blanks of up to 2000 x 4000 mm are feasible.
Automatic stacking is used to create ready-to-use sheet stacks for faster throughput. Stacks are delivered to OEMs on their preferred type of pallet.
Thanks to advances in automotive steel grades and productivity, laser cutting is a cost-effective solution for both small and large production runs. We can help OEMs to calculate the most effective technology for every part.
