As well as using our technological know-how and leading position in advanced high strength steels (AHSS), ArcelorMittal maintains very close relationships with our customers through:
- Resident engineers who are embedded with global carmakers to provide customized technical advice and support. They help OEMs identify opportunities for future innovation using ArcelorMittal’s latest advanced steel grades or technologies such as laser welded blanks. Resident engineers also feed-back information to ArcelorMittal on the challenges our customers face. This helps ensure our Global R&D teams focus on relevant solutions and anticipate shifts in the market well in advance.
- Co-engineering projects, often beginning at the vehicle design stage
- Early Vendor Involvement (EVI) and process engineers who provide our customers with processing, stamping, and joining advice. This support typically begins up to two-years before the start of serial production.
