ArcelorMittal at Auto Shanghai 2025

Driving innovation in China's automotive industry

At Auto Shanghai 2025, ArcelorMittal's joint ventures VAMA – the joint venture with Valin – and GONVVAMA – the JV between VAMA and Gonvarri – demonstrated their leadership in shaping the future of mobility in China. Their presence at the 21st edition of the show went beyond showcasing products and solutions; it offered an immersive experience rooted in innovation, customer collaboration, and strategic impact.

Launching the “Yujian™” Multi-Part Integration (MPI) solution

The highlight of the exhibition was the grand unveiling of the "Yujian™" Multi-Part Integration solution, a landmark development in integrated steel design. Symbolizing the "Power of Less", this solution represents a leap forward in reducing complexity in vehicle manufacturing integrating multiple components into a single part to enhance structural performance, streamline production, and reduce costs.

  • MPI: the power of less

  • Discussing tailored solutions for local OEM needs

The Yujian™ solution is closely aligned with the Chinese automotive industry's push for lightweighting, safety, and sustainability. It redefines benchmarks in multi-part integration, and during the launch event on April 23rd, it resonated strongly with media, OEMs, and Tier-1 suppliers alike – generating attention across channels and earning attention from industry-leading media such as CGTN, China Automotive News, and Gasgoo.

Cutting-edge steel grades powering innovation

Central to both the "Yujian™" and "Simplify" solutions are ArcelorMittal's globally recognized advanced steel grades:

  • Ductibor® 1500: A third-generation aluminum-silicon coated hot stamped steel that achieves ultra-high strength while maintaining exceptional impact toughness and energy absorption – key attributes for passenger safety.
  • Fortiform® grades: High-strength cold stamped steel designed for exceptional formability and strength, making it ideal for manufacturing lightweight yet robust structural parts.

These grades were showcased through interactive demonstrations, expert walkthroughs, and immersive AR experiences across a 300㎡ smart exhibition space, highlighting how material science is enabling the next generation of electric and intelligent vehicles.

"Simplify": a philosophy rooted in performance

ArcelorMittal also introduced its complementary "Simplify" integration concept – a nod to Eastern philosophy emphasizing efficiency through reduction. It reflects a growing need in the industry for clean, lean manufacturing enabled by intelligent material design and a simplified production chain.

The solution drew interest during the technical sessions held from April 25th-26th, where engineers and senior decision-makers from leading OEMs engaged in deeper strategic discussions with the ArcelorMittal team.

Creating connection: beyond the booth

The VAMA & GONVVAMA stand drew over 200 visitors daily, with more than 400 active participants engaging in interactive activities such as augmented reality design challenges and guided steel explorations.
Notable highlights included:

  • Robotic screens and naked-eye 3D displays adding visual drama to the brand story
  • Brewed coffee and personalized tours fostering informal yet high-impact discussions
  • 9+ in-depth customer meetings, reinforcing trust and co-creation

This multi-sensory, multi-stakeholder approach reinforced ArcelorMittal’s image as not only a materials leader but also a strategic partner invested in China’s mobility transition.
