ArcelorMittal recently welcomed a Geely R&D team to its global automotive R&D centre in Montataire, France, for a day of technical exchange and collaboration. The visit organised by our R&D center in China provided an opportunity for the Geely and ArcelorMittal teams to exchange views on evolving automotive requirements and to explore ArcelorMittal’s advanced steel solutions, material expertise, testing capabilities and automotive R&D services.

The visit gave our teams the opportunity to discuss evolving automotive requirements and explore ArcelorMittal’s advanced steel solutions, material expertise, testing capabilities and R&D services, including co-engineering.
The European automotive landscape is evolving rapidly, with new players, technologies and industrial models reshaping the market. For ArcelorMittal, close collaboration with carmakers investing and developing their activities in Europe is an opportunity to support automotive manufacturing, innovation and industrial value creation in the region.
"Our role goes beyond supplying steel. By engaging with automotive customers from the early stages of vehicle development, ArcelorMittal can combine materials expertise with application and engineering know-how to develop solutions addressing performance, safety, lightweighting, cost efficiency and sustainability."
This co-engineering approach is supported by ArcelorMittal’s global automotive and R&D network, bringing together expertise across regions while working closely with customers at local level. The recent exchange in Montataire is a good example of this collaborative approach, connecting commercial, R&D and technical teams and helping to build a deeper understanding of future vehicle and material requirements.
The visit also reflects the broader collaboration between ArcelorMittal teams in Europe and China to develop the relationship with Geely and explore opportunities for future technical cooperation around the world.
We thank the Geely team for the visit and the open technical discussions, as well as all ArcelorMittal colleagues involved in organising and supporting the exchange.
