Simplifying vehicle manufacturing with Multi Parts Integration, by Jessé Paeglé - Head of Product & Solution Development at ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks
Multi Part Integration (MPI) is a new concept which is designed to incorporate many parts into one laser welded blank (LWB). The concept reduces the complexity of vehicle manufacturing in OEM body shops. MPI uses press hardenable steels (PHS) and hot stamping LWB technology to save weight, reduce scrap, and minimize the cost of big parts such as the H-frame.
Safe laser welding of PHS with Partial Ablation and Charpy test, by Kevin Luttenschlager - Product Development Engineer at ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks
Partial ablation is the process used by ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks to reduce and control aluminum pollution in the weld of press hardenable steel (PHS) assemblies. Find out more about this process and discover the innovative quick testing procedure we use to validate the part's robustness and confirm its dynamic behavior. The test is cost-effective and much faster than other methods which require a completed parts to be crash tested.
