Multi Part Integration (MPI) is a new concept which is designed to incorporate many parts into one laser welded blank (LWB). The concept reduces the complexity of vehicle manufacturing in OEM body shops. MPI uses press hardenable steels (PHS) and hot stamping LWB technology to save weight, reduce scrap, and minimize the cost of big parts such as the H-frame.

Partial ablation is the process used by ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks to reduce and control aluminum pollution in the weld of press hardenable steel (PHS) assemblies.
