Coatings for flat steels
ArcelorMittal offers a full range of coatings to protect our steels for automotive applications. Many have been developed by ArcelorMittal’s Global R&D teams to meet the unique conditions found in automotive vehicles. For example, our Alusi coating offers exceptional resistance to high temperatures, making it suitable for parts used in or near high-heat components.
Product range
Other coatings have been developed to solve a specific need. Ultragal® for example, is designed to minimize the natural waviness of steel. This allows OEMs to create high quality bonnets and body panels, particularly for premium vehicles.

As well as our comprehensive selection of coatings, ArcelorMittal can supply our automotive steels with a range of surface treatments. The treatments typically protect the steel from corrosion during handling and processing and can also enhance their processability.
